Nightcaps were a practical way of keeping the hair tidy, and
the pillow clean.  In a time when hair was not often washed, and oils
applied to keep the hair neat, this was especially important.  These
sturdy cotton caps can be hand washed.

We offer three types of ladies' nightcaps, listed below.

All are made from 100% pima cotton.  Each cap is edged
with a simple cotton lace, and ties under the chin
with white cotton tapes.

#N1 has a simple, flat shape, and is appropriate for an 1840-1860 impression. Copied from an original in the Suffolk County Historical Society.
#N2 has four decorative tucks at the brim, four pleats at the nape for shaping, and is appropriate for an 1860-1870 impression. Copied from an original in the Suffolk County Historical Society.
#N3 is adjustable with a twill tape drawstring at the nape. As seen in the 1838 "Workwoman's Guide".
